The Art Of The Deal is back on Amazon’s bestseller list

A nearly 30-year-old book is now atop Amazon’s bestseller list. No, it’s not Haruki Murakami’s Norwegian Wood or Tom Wolfe’s The Bonfire Of The Vanities, although you’re getting a bit warmer with that second one. According to CNN, Trump: The Art Of The Deal has made its way into Amazon’s 100 bestsellers, edging out The Daily Show (The Book): An Oral History As Told By Jon Stewart, The Correspondents, Staff And Guests for the no. 99 spot.

The collaborative work between Trump and journalist Tony Schwartz, which called American Psycho to mind for The A.V. Club’s Nathan Rabin, is a business seminar passing for memoir, or maybe the other way around. Although Schwartz now says he “deeply regrets” his contributions to the book, it’s jumped from no. 304 and cracked the top 100. CNN reports that The Art Of The Deal’s resurgence might be owed in part to “white elephant gift exchanges,” the hot potato of holiday traditions. And apparently, some people think they’ll be able to glean how the president-elect will run the White House based off these ramblings of his riches. But it will probably prove about as helpful in that area as this McDonald’s commercial Trump shot for the Big N’ Tasty.
