Americans now spend more time looking at their phones and computers than they do looking at their TVs. Ad Age reports that while the average U.S. citizen spends four and a half hours gazing vapidly at their TV, they spend about a half an hour more than that staring blankly at their phones and computers, probably waiting for their Candy Crush lives to re-up. Since it’s summer, here’s hoping people are at least looking at their phones in their yards and on their porches.
The time people spend just on their computers comes in at a paltry two hours and 19 minutes. As Ad Age notes, that might seem low to anyone who sits in front of a computer all day long at work, but eMarketer, the company who did the poll, took into account all U.S. adults, including the 20 percent that still don’t use the Internet.
