The Beastie Boys’ Paul’s Boutique building is getting a commemorative mural

Some 25 years after it appeared on the cover of the Beastie Boys’ Paul’s Boutique, the building on New York City’s Lower East Side is getting a commemorative mural. Artist Danielle Mastrion will begin painting the mural tomorrow on the side of Wolfnights, the sandwich shop located at the corner of Ludlow and Rivington that currently occupies the building featured on the album’s cover. (Back then, it was home to Lee’s Sportswear.) The project was spearheaded by LeRoy McCarthy, the same guy that tried (and failed) to get the corner of Ludlow and Rivington named to honor the Beastie Boys.
