The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth gets a release date, creepy new trailer

The Binding Of Isaac started out as a Flash game posted to Steam by Edmund McMillen, one of the developers responsible for Super Meat Boy. It was a side project, an experiment. But thanks to online word-of-mouth, enthusiasm spread for McMillen’s dark, difficult, weird, funny take on The Legend Of Zelda’s dungeon-diving template. Through successive expansions, Isaac grew, adding levels and scores of new items to discover in the game’s randomly generated hellscapes. Now McMillen is about to release a huge new remake, The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth, which brings Isaac to consoles, specifically the PlayStation 4 and the Vita, for the first time. (Don’t worry, PC/Mac players, Rebirth will be on Steam, too.) To mark the announcement of the release date—November 4—McMillen posted a new trailer (above) whose disorienting strangeness captures the feeling that sets in after a long night spent amid Isaac’s bloody yet adorable madness.
