After giving NBC the Hannibal Lecter they craved without all the off-putting Hannibal Lecter stuff, the network has rewarded its breakout freshman drama The Blacklist with a full season pickup after only two airings, guaranteeing a back-nine of episodes where James Spader is inscrutable and arrogant, and everyone around him talks about how interesting that is. “The many layers of Red Reddington and his mysterious reasons for getting into bed with the FBI seem to be fascinating to fans of this show,” NBC president Jennifer Salke said in a statement that probably wasn’t meant to sound amusingly bewildered, even though that would be funny. (“Apparently people just can’t get enough of Vest Vestington and the way he smirks at the FBI, until he finally just admits that he’s related to that rookie agent somehow. Go figure.”)
