The Breeders are set to reunite for the 20th anniversary of Last Splash

Although the 1993 incarnation of The Breeders was theoretically meant to reunite after its 1994 hiatus, Kelley Deal’s rehab and a bevy of side projects disrupted the group’s momentum so much that it never actually happened. Luckily, a text message from Kim Deal to bandmates Josephine Wiggs and Jim Macpherson asking if they wanted to get together for the 20th anniversary of Last Splash was all it took to get the ball rolling again. In addition to reissuing a deluxe 20th-anniversary edition of the album in April 2013, Kim Deal, Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs, and Jim Macpherson will also be hitting the road to perform it live.

A full list of tour dates has not yet been released, but the band will kick off the reunion with a show at the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival in Camber Sands, U.K. in June. The band’s last record, the Fate To Fatal EP, was released in 2009. [via Slicing Up Eyeballs]
