The Carmichael Show offers up some straight talk for the last time
Here’s what’s up in the word of TV for Wednesday, August 9. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
The Carmichael Show (NBC, 10:00 p.m.): It was basically inevitable after Jerrod Carmichael announced he was leaving his eponymous sitcom, and sure enough, by the end of June NBC announced the end of The Carmichael Show. So tune in one last time for this hourlong sendoff to one of TV’s more impressively open and searching sitcoms.
Regular coverage
Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later (Netflix)
Broadchurch (BBC America, 10 p.m.)
Snowfall (FX, 10 p.m.)
Wild card
Wahlburgers (A&E, 9 p.m.): Do you ever wonder what Mark Wahlberg’s family does all day at their burger place, or rather, chain of burger places? Me neither. It sounds excruciating. Nonetheless, this goddamn show has somehow made it to an eighth season, which kicks off tonight. Eight seasons?! What a nightmare, especially when you see that the second of tonight’s back-to-back episodes is called “Fry Me To The Moon.” Screw you, Wahlburgers. Seriously, watch TruTV’s I’m Sorry instead, it’s really quite funny.
