The cast of Hamilton will perform at this year’s Grammys
After injecting new life into the story of the “10-dollar Founding Father,” Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and the rest of the musical’s cast will tackle the slightly more daunting task of reviving an awards show that’s become so rote, it can’t be bothered with lining up a non-LL Cool J host. We’re talking about the Grammys, of course, which The Wrap reports will feature a performance from the Hamilton cast via satellite. Miranda, who won a Grammy in 2009 for In The Heights, says he’s absolutely thrilled about performing at this year’s ceremony: “The music community’s response to our cast album has been overwhelming and we’re honored to be a part of such a special night. To perform from our home at the Richard Rodgers Theatre is a dream come true.”
It’s probably too much to hope that Audra McDonald will join Miranda on stage, but the event will feature at least one other highlight, as we recently learned that Lady Gaga will perform a medley and homage to the late David Bowie. The 58th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on February 15 and broadcast on CBS, with performances from 2016 Grammy nominees Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd, as well as Grammy winner and carpool singer Adele.
