The Castlevania III soundtrack has been resurrected on vinyl

Konami’s Castlevania series of monster-mauling video games turned 30 last year, and the folks at Mondo have been celebrating by producing stunning vinyl editions of its classic soundtracks. Both the original game and Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest have already been covered—interested parties can still nab a copy of the latter—and today, Mondo has released its first pressing of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. The third and final Castlevania game on the NES, its soundtrack is one of the series’ best, a legendary 8-bit score that introduced staples like “Beginning,” “Mad Forest,” and “Clockwork.” Mondo’s vinyl edition includes both the American and Japanese versions of the soundtrack, as the original Japanese release used advanced sound hardware for denser instrumentation. Both records come packaged inside a badass sleeve, with the interior art sporting renditions of the game’s levels.

According to Mondo, it has two more Castlevania releases in the works. Next, it’ll be tackling the series’ jump to 16-bit with Super Castlevania IV, followed by Symphony Of The Night, a PlayStation 1 classic that sports one of most beloved soundtracks in video-game history.
