The Chris Gethard Show comes to TruTV
Here’s what’s up in the world of television for Thursday, August 3. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
The Chris Gethard Show (TruTV, 11 p.m.): Chris Gethard and his rotating cast of weirdos have sold out (his words, not ours) and set up shop on TruTV for the latest incarnation of The Chris Gethard Show. Even Vacation Jason’s getting off his ass to join the fun. Judging from previews, we can expect the same beautiful chaos of the UCB and public access iterations, right down to the live setting—though there will now be a 10-second delay.
Regular coverage
The Mist (Spike, 10 p.m.)
Zoo (CBS, 10 p.m.)
Wild card
What Would Diplo Do? (Viceland, 10:30 p.m.): James Van Der Beek gives meta-comedy another crack with this new Viceland series. As Diplo, the former Dawson’s Creek inhabitant takes up residence in the world of air horns, confetti cannons, and remixes. Van Der Beek offers a solid impression of the “random white dude,” though he’s made his life just a tad more surreal (though we suppose it’s entirely possible that Diplo would also join a cult to ensure a song’s success).
