The Chris Gethard Show knows what you could use right now: Pets, pets, and more pets
Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Thursday, November 30. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
The Chris Gethard Show (TruTV, 11 p.m.): Over the course of their first season on TruTV, Chris Gethard and friends have played matchmaker, gambled away all but 13 cents of an episode’s final-act budget, and played host to the likes of John Oliver, Seth Meyers, and Ellie Kemper. But no guest, be they a fellow late-night luminary or a member of the Wu-Tang Clan, has garnered the warm reception reserved for the domesticated animals who tend to wander into frame during Gethard’s weekly, live Skype chats with viewers. So, for its final episode of 2017, The Chris Gethard Show gives the people what they want, in the episode explanatorily titled “Screw It. Show Us Your Pets.” In addition to cats and dogs and probably a reptile or two, you’ll also be shown Paul Scheer and Jason Mantzoukas, whose last Chris Gethard Show appearance went a little, let’s just say, sideways. (There are billions of reasons to watch that clip. It’s American splendor, through and through, and you can take my word for it—what do you take me for, some kind of big, fat liar?)
Regular coverage
Gotham (Fox, 8 p.m.)
The Orville (Fox, 9 p.m.)
Wild card
The President Show (Comedy Central, 10 p.m.): And in considerably less cute sources of bellies shaking like bowls full of jelly: Anthony Atamanuik puts a Santy Claus coat and a hat over the sandy combover wig and too-long red tie for “I Came Up With Christmas,” an hour-long President Show holiday special.
