The Church Of Scientology can no longer count the creator of Crash among its members
Oscar-winning writer-director Paul Haggis (Crash, Million Dollar Baby, In The Valley Of Elah) has publicly resigned from The Church Of Scientology, citing the support of Proposition 8 by the organization's San Diego branch, the church's policy of encouraging members to "disconnect" from non-Scientologists, and the ever-looming threat that the church will reveal embarrassing secrets about its members if they choose to quit the faith. Haggis' resignation letter was posted on the blog Mark "Marty" Rathburn's Place almost two weeks ago, but was picked up by various entertainment news sites over the weekend. It's a fascinating letter, full of insider detail about how the church can make its members feel isolated and powerless.
