The Colbert Report is coming back today
The Colbert Report’s brief, unfortunate hiatus is over, according to Comedy Central, which confirmed that the show will resume with new episodes beginning with tonight’s featuring author Ann Patchett. Neither the network nor anyone involved with the production ever offered an official explanation for the stoppage, although numerous media outlets quoted sources close to the show as saying it involved Colbert’s elderly mother, who had recently become ill. No one’s officially commented on that either, but Colbert did post on Twitter that he wanted to “thank everyone who has offered their thoughts and prayers,” adding, “We are grateful and touched by your concern.” Anyway, with respect for his privacy, the important thing here is that Colbert is back and hosting guests this week that include Nancy Pelosi and Placido Domingo, whose upcoming duet album will make you fall in love all over again.
