The Conjuring 2 gets a spooky new release date

After discovering that The Conjuring 2‘s original release date of October 23, 2015, was terrifyingly haunted by director James Wan’s need to promote Furious 7, New Line called in famed paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren to try and discover a new ghost-and-Furious 7-free release date. Unfortunately, Ed Warren has been dead for years, and choosing release dates has nothing to do with investigating ghosts anyway, so New Line settled on June 10, 2016. Presumably, it did this because June is widely recognized as the spookiest month of the year, which makes it perfect for a big horror movie sequel like this. After all, June 10 is only about 20 weeks from Halloween, so all of the ghouls and goblins will be running rampant on the hot summer streets as it is.

Now that we finally have a release date set for The Conjuring 2—unless it gets moved again—the only thing left is to find out literally everything else about the movie. Will it be a direct sequel and follow the same characters? Will it also be set in the ‘70s? Or will it take a Halloween III-style approach and drop everything people liked about the original? We’d call in the Warrens to help us solve this mystery, but, again, one of them is dead and this isn’t really ghost-related.
