The Conjuring 2’s scary nun will reportedly get her own spin-off

James Wan’s Conjuring movies have not only somehow turned real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren into movie heroes, it also created a steadily growing legion of supernatural villains for them to battle against. The first movie introduced Annabelle, a spooky doll (based on a real spooky doll) that got its own self-titled spin-off, and now the recently released sequel’s demonic nun will reportedly be getting a spin-off as well. This comes from The Wrap, which got the news from “an individual with knowledge of the project” who claims that it’ll simply be titled The Nun. Conjuring 2 co-writer David Leslie Johnson is apparently on board to write the screenplay, with Wan acting as a producer—though he’ll return to direct his ‘80s-set Conjuring 3.

The nun plays a bigger role in The Conjuring 2 than Annabelle did in the first one, so it remains to be seen whether or not this spin-off will be a prequel like Annabelle or simply another story about this particular demonic nuisance. Either way, it’ll have a scary nun. That’s probably enough for most horror movie fans.
