The creator of Child’s Play wants to do an Annabelle crossover

Never one to miss an opportunity to tart up a doll, Don Mancini, the creator of Child’s Play, says he’s eager to introduce creepy plaything of the moment Annabelle into the Child’s Play universe. Mancini, who sat down for an interview with USA Today over the weekend because why the hell not, claims he’d totally form a scary-doll supergroup if the studios would let him.

“I am hoping that at some future point we have Annabelle and Chucky team up…I can see that [even] 20 years from now,” Mancini says. “[T]he only problem is that we are in different studios. That would probably be years worth of red tape to work it out,” he adds. “But if it all could be worked out, then yes, we’re very into it.”

In fact, Mancini says he’s writing Annabelle into the script for Child’s Play 7. “The bride of Chucky is going to be very upset if Chucky starts to stray,” he says, presumably while making two dolls kiss. “If I were Annabelle, I’d be watching my back.” So look out for Child’s Play 7, starring Jennifer Tilly and the doll from Annabelle in a miniskirt, as soon as James Wan movies stop making money.
