The Cure, GZA, Grizzly Bear, and South Park set for Record Store Day exclusives this year
Vinyl nerds can start their comprehensive planning for Record Store Day 2013, because a full list of what will be available has finally been released. This year, LP-heads can queue up for records from bands like Big Star, The Black Lips, and Bob Dylan. The Cure is reissuing its 1987 classic Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me on red vinyl, and Kill Rock Stars is offering four unreleased outtakes from Elliott Smith’s Either/Or as part of a limited-edition 7-inch. Grizzly Bear’s Horn Of Plenty will finally be available on vinyl, and GZA is releasing a vinyl box of his Liquid Swords, complete with bonus material and an actual chess set.
Other participants include Husker Du, The Hold Steady, Brian Eno, Destroyer, Mumford And Sons, The Notorious B.I.G., Phish, The Rolling Stones, Soundgarden, Pulp, and more. Some stores are even going to have a South Park picture disc 7-inch available containing two tracks: “Gay Fish” and “Jacking-It In San Diego.”
The whole massive list, which definitely deserves more than the cursory glance we've given here, can be found on the Record Store Day site.
This year’s music industry bacchanal will take place April 20 at indie retailers nationwide, and has been touted by this year’s industry ambassador, Jack White.
