The Cure streams 20 new Disintegration rarities
As a preview for its upcoming deluxe reissue of Disintegration, The Cure has set up a new website streaming 20 rare tracks that didn’t make the already-stuffed new edition—which also includes 20 other rarities as well as a full live album in addition to a studio remaster. The online collection, titled Alternative Rarities 1988-1989, is composed of mostly instrumental demos, including a few of songs that never made the finished record, as well as a few alternate mixes and concert bootlegs. Starting May 24, the website will also begin streaming yet another live recording of a 1989 Dallas show that features the band performing Disintegration in full—the very show that your author was deemed not old enough to attend by his parents, even with his friend’s big sister chaperoning, and which he probably wrote some shitty poetry about or something. The new Disintegration is due on June 8 in the U.S. [HT to Pitchfork]
