The CW continues to walk the reboot underworld with new Tales From The Darkside

Man lives in the sunlit world of what he believes to be reality. But there is, unseen by all who are not studio executives, a reboot world—a place that is just as real, in terms of it technically producing “new” content, but not as brightly lit by creative spark. A Tales From The Darkside reboot, which The CW is currently prepping with the help of writer Joe Hill and—because this has to do with stories of the supernatural—Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, as required by current OSHA regulations. The trio will team on a revival of the anthology series that had a four-year run as the slightly more horror-tinged answer to The Twilight Zone of the ’80s, landing somewhere in the middle of that and Tales From The Crypt. (That both The Twilight Zone and Tales From The Crypt have also been considered for remakes recently is certainly not a coincidence, as there are no coincidences on horror anthology shows.)

Hill’s participation continues the legacy of Tales’ origins as a small-screen spin on Creepshow, and the fact that several episodes were adapted from stories written by his dad, Stephen King. It remains to be seen whether the rebooted series will draw from new writers writing new stories, as these days it seems less and less like those still exist. Because the reboot world is always there, waiting for us to enter—waiting to enter us. Until the next reboot article, try to enjoy the daylight.
