The CW orders the highest-concept zombie show yet in iZombie
Rob Thomas—as always, the Veronica Mars guy, not the Matchbox Twenty guy—and Mars writer Diane Ruggiero are adapting DC Comics' iZombie for The CW. The show is just the latest in a slew of adaptations DC has sold to television recently, all in a bid to keep up with Marvel's exponentially increasing number of TV projects.
While the title suggests a heavy amount of Apple product placement, the story is actually about a zombified med student who finds she can remain human as long as she keeps eating brains. So she takes a job in the coroner's office, where she learns that when she eats a brain, she takes on the memories of the deceased, which she can only put to rest by using the person's memories to solve their murder. (No idea what she does when someone dies of heart disease. Launches an investigation into KFC, probably.)
