The CW renews Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Jane The Virgin, and all of its superhero shows
As the CW prepares to introduce the world to an all-new Archie Andrews, the network is first green-lighting new seasons of seven of its popular series. The early renewal love is being shared this morning among Jane The Virgin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, the preternaturally ratings-strong Supernatural, and, well, how many DC Comics series? There’s Arrow, which was Greg Berlanti’s first foray into superhero shows; the CW has also given renewals to two more of its original series, The Flash and DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow. Finally, the network will continue to be home to Kara Zor-El, as Supergirl has also been picked up. The CW president Mark Pedowitz touted the series’ performance and critical acclaim at the Television Critics Association winter press tour this morning.
Over the past several seasons, The CW has built a schedule of proven performers, from our lineup of DC superheroes, to critically acclaimed comedies, to sci-fi drama. Early pickups of these seven series now allow our producers to plan ahead for next season, and gives us a solid base to build on for next season, with original scripted series to roll out all year long.
