The CW says “screw it,” renews everything

Establishing itself as the cool dad of broadcast networks who says, “pizza and ice cream? Why not?” to a car full of cheering showrunners, The CW has reportedly decided that it loves all of its shows the same, and will keep them all. Deadline says that the network has given renewal notices to all 11 of its scripted series currently on the air, including returning veterans The Flash, Arrow, The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, The Originals, iZombie, Jane the Virgin, The 100, and Reign, as well as freshman series Legends Of Tomorrow and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

And why not? Although not all of The CW’s series have been ratings successes on the scale of Greg Berlanti’s The Flash and Arrow—or its other superhero show, Legends Of Tomorrow, also a strong ratings performer—even its less-watched series, like The Vampire Diaries and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, boast devoted cult and/or critical followings. And the family will only continue to grow, as Deadline says The CW is likely to add “as many as two” new scripted series to its fall schedule. Now, who likes roller coasters?!
