The CW is developing a drama about ballet-dancing sisters in 1880s Paris, in what is just about the most CW-y show the CW has ever produced. This new period drama follows in the footsteps of Reign, the network’s current historical soap about Mary, Queen of Scots. It will be adapted from The Painted Girls by Cathy Marie Buchanan, which follows three sisters who are studying ballet—including one who becomes the muse for Edgar Degas. While the real-life Degas was 45 years old in 1880, this version will almost certainly reimagine him as a sexy bad boy with a heart of gold and a perfect jawline. According to Deadline, playwright Geoffrey Nauffts (Brothers & Sisters) will write the adaptation and co-executive produce alongside Dan Jinks (Emily Owens M.D., Pushing Daisies).
