White supremacists, white nationalists, and neo-Nazis (the AP is very clear on them not being the same thing, though we’re still trying to figure out when each is appropriate) got a shot in the Hitler-saluting arm when the president of the United States referred to (some of) them as “very fine people.” To add to this developing Man In The High Castle storyline, Ars Technica reports that The Daily Stormer, a neo-Nazi site that was booted from GoDaddy and Google earlier this week over a garbage post about the civil rights activist who was allegedly murdered by a white supremacist in Charlottesville, has found refuge on the darknet.
Apparently the site was really only offline for 24 hours before reestablishing itself under the Russian domain name dailystormer.ru. As Motherboard notes (via The Verge), the old Daily Stormer site had a link to the new, Tor-anonymized one. The Daily Stormer has also set up a .onion address, which effectively skirts any kind of tracking by an ISP or an individual accessing info on the site, and will also presumably further confuse the people who make up Literally Unbelievable’s content.
