Along with giving Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson a chance to work on their comedy stylings last night, the MTV Movie Awards featured a fresh crop of trailers, including another romp with the Suicide Squad. The new trailer opens with a cover of Lesley Gore’s “You Don’t Own Me,” which might be true of Deadshot (Will Smith) and his crew, but that doesn’t matter to Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), who threatens to kill them should they disobey or otherwise “vex” him. Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) can’t help herself and admits that she can be “quite vexing,” but her honesty is only met with a death threat.
Cue “Ballroom Blitz,” and then there’s enough shooting and jawing to appease any Suicide Squad fan. But in case you also needed a Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice tie-in, a government official reminds us just how dangerous and untrustworthy everyone finds Supes these days (thanks, Zack Snyder). Not to be left out, Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight chases—and dives—after Harley Quinn and the Joker (Jared Leto).
Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5, by which time we assume a trailer with the identity of Ike Barinholtz’s character will have been released.
