The Dark Knight Rises will shoot in beautiful downtown Pittsburgh

Seeing as Chicago was recently destroyed by Michael Bay, director Christopher Nolan apparently had no choice but to relocate shooting of The Dark Knight Rises to Pittsburgh. In a statement, Nolan said, “Pittsburgh is a beautiful city. We have been able to find everything we were looking for here, and I am excited to spend the summer in Pittsburgh with our final installment of Batman,” so unlike most other Batman rumors, you know that this one is official. Why Nolan suddenly decided to have Pittsburgh—a city most often chosen as a backdrop for post-apocalyptic dystopias in movies like The Road and Night Of The Living Dead—stand in for Gotham City is unclear (unless this means the film is following the No Man’s Land story arc), but the director of the city’s local film office suggests that “what they really fell in love with was the diversity of architecture and the gorgeous buildings.” And the tax breaks were just a happy little bonus. Anyway, maybe this means Wiz Khalifa will go the Prince route and do the soundtrack? “Black And Yellow” reworks itself into a riff on the Batman logo so easily.
