The Daytrippers
A young married woman finds a mysterious note from someone she's never heard of in her bedroom. Is this a love letter, as it appears? Is her husband (Stanley Tucci) its recipient? She ventures from the suburbs into New York City to confront him. In tow are her garrulous mother, her reticent father, her rebellious sister, and her sister's politically confused boyfriend. This family is a lot more archetypal than stereotypical, and therein lies the appeal of The Daytrippers. As they jump from one adventure to the next in search of the truth about Tucci, they all learn truths about each other, and the time bombs behind every relationship blow up one by one until everybody's been torn to emotional shreds. The result is comic-ensemble performance at its darkest.
