As TMZ reminds, the couple dated for some 11 years before finally wedding in 1982, making for a relationship that lasted through over 40 years of love and laughter while humorously reaching for things, but which still could not withstand the consumptive hollowing-out of human feeling now that love is officially a lie. Neither DeVito nor Perlman has offered an official statement on their split yet, as no doubt both are busy searching in vain for every fleeting empty pleasure, as we are all condemned to do until we die.
