The director and stars of American Animals talk the challenges of portraying real people on film

Based on a true story, Bart Layton’s American Animals follows four young friends (American Horror Story’s Evan Peters, Dunkirk’s Barry Keoghan, Glee’s Blake Jenner, Jared Abrahamson) who plot to steal millions from Transylvania University in an ill-conceived attempt at rebelling against their suburban upbringings. At the premiere of the film, we spoke with Layton and the stars about bringing this story to life.
