The Disaster Artist to premiere at SXSW

Anticipation for SXSW has been building all year (that’s probably true, since it’s only February), what with Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver and Terrence Malick’s Song To Song both set to make their premieres at the Austin festival. But only the most discerning film aficionados will be pumped to learn that The Disaster Artist will also debut next month. In fact, the James Franco-led adaptation of the book about the making of The Room will headline SXSW’s film lineup. Naturally, Franco will star as Tommy Wiseau, the original film’s auteur, who will be saying hi to Mark—we mean, Greg Sestero, who will be played by Dave Franco. The Franco bros are joined in the cast by Alison Brie (who’s engaged to the younger Franco, however improbably), as well as Bryan Cranston, Hannibal Buress, and Kate Upton.
