Even amid his pending divorce from Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon is moving full steam ahead with his career, booking an upcoming spot on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and serving as executive producer on the follow-up to the movie that made him, Drumline: A New Beat. In that film, first promised earlier this year, Cannon also reprises his role as Devon, who appears to be a mentor to Dani (Alexandra Shipp). Dani is the new drummer looking to defeat a rival drumline—just like Devon did in the first film, begging the question, “Is this sequel even necessary?” Judge for yourself when Drumline: A New Beat premieres on VH1, Monday, October 27, at 9 p.m. ET.
