After getting an official series order from HBO in July, Mark and Jay Duplass’ single-camera comedy Togetherness finally has a teaser. It opens with Mark and Melanie Lynskey as a struggling couple. Once they’re done arguing about their sex lives, an upbeat but otherwise nondescript song kicks in, and the statement “Some people have it all figured out” flashes across the screen. Meanwhile, scenes of Steve Zissis being evicted and Amanda Peet offering the advice, “Just fake it. Do you see this smile? I’m dead inside” reminds viewers that these are not those people. But the title hints that, no matter what, these characters will have each other, and that’s all that really matters in this crazy, mixed up world. Relatable, huh?
Togetherness premieres on Sunday, January 11 at 9:30 p.m. ET.
