The Farrelly Brothers would like to do a Dumb And Dumber sequel

Although the Farrelly Brothers are currently concentrating on their long-gestating The Three Stooges as their next project, the duo let it slip at a recent Hall Pass junket that the “ball is in motion” for a sequel to Dumb And Dumber, the film that first launched their estimable careers as chroniclers of the American moron. Though less obvious than Charlie Sheen’s recent dismissal of Major League: Back To The Minors as an “abortion,” the Farrellys condemned with silence the film’s 2003 prequel Dumb And Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd, saying they’re “starting to think about what those two dimwits would be doing 20 years later in life, and hopefully we’ll be able to come up with something worthy of a sequel.” We're guessing something about politics, because der politicians, dey are so dumb!

Of course, it all depends on getting Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels to reprise their roles—and as we’ve seen with their Three Stooges film, the Farrellys are given to talking up projects long before they’re anywhere close to an actuality, just to have something to talk about. Still, this is the first time they’ve open discussed the possibility of another Dumb And Dumber—even as the clock continues to tick forward toward the inevitable remake of all ’90s films—so it sounds like they're really considering it. And obviously, they should probably get Jim Carrey before the advances of age render his antics sort of Jerry-Lewis-in-Hardly-Working creepy-sad.
