The filmmakers behind the Amy Winehouse documentary are taking on Oasis

What does it say about your band when the team behind a documentary like Amy decides that you’ll be their next subject? If you’re Oasis, it’s probably nothing you don’t already know, unless Noel and Liam Gallagher have been under the impression that they were totally best friends this whole time. They weren’t, though, which we imagine this documentary will cover. News of this project comes from NME, which reports that director Asif Kapadia and producer James Gay-Rees will reunite after their Amy Winehouse doc for this Oasis movie, with the filmmakers apparently having “unprecedented access to the band and unseen archive footage.” It sounds like the project might mostly focus on the beginning of Oasis, with one quote referring to it as the “tale of the rise of one of the great rock ‘n’ roll bands,” even though that seems to leave out the part about the brothers hating each other and the band breaking up. On the plus side, if anybody from Oasis ends up displeased with how they’re portrayed in the film, they can just join Amy Winehouse’s dad and make their own movie.
