The final Crimes Of Grindelwald trailer arrives with a bizarre twist
J.K. Rowling has never been shy about retconning the Harry Potter universe with new story details, but the latest surprise, revealed in the final trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald might take the cake for most bizarre: Nagini, Voldemort’s beloved pet snake and final Horcrux was actually a person, specifically a “Maledictus,” or the human carrier of a blood curse that ultimately destines them to transform permanently into a beast.
In a newly released interview with Entertainment Weekly, Claudia Kim, who will play Nagini in The Crimes Of Grindelwald, describes the character as “a wonderful and vulnerable woman who wants to live.” The revelation that Nagini was a person doomed to live out eternity as a snake is just the latest in a long line of odd, unnecessary details revealed by Rowling, but it should be interesting to watch nonetheless.
The rest of the trailer is full of other Wizarding World eye candy, like a young Dumbledore (Jude Law) staring into the Mirror Of Erised, a thestral-drawn carriage flying over New York, and of course, plenty of fantastic beasts.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald pops into theaters November 16.
