The final Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom trailer sure looks a lot like The Lost World
We may be more than two months away from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s June 22 debut, but the foolish, hubristic engineers behind it have already plowed forward, releasing its final trailer to the unwitting public. And, as has been pointed out amply on Twitter, it sure looks a lot like prior hyphenated second-installment The Lost World: Jurassic Park, from 1997. We’ve got a harried team of operatives being sent back to the island on which they previously experienced disaster because of the short-sighted avarice of their corporate overlords, and despite the concerns of Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), followed by a daring escape from said island and a bunch of scenes of dino disaster in the suburbs. Only now there’s also a big-ass volcano, and one of the dinosaurs is good(?).
Of course, Jurassic World had essentially the same plot as Jurassic Park, so presumably we’re just hitting the same notes again and again, this time with a good dinosaur, and also Chris Pratt. New director J.A. Bayona series only has one direction to go from Colin Trevorrow’s bland Jurassic World, and there were considerable joys to watching the dinosaurs break out on the mainland back in 1997, so there’s hope yet. We’ll have to wait until June 22 to find out what else the sequel has going for it.
