The first-day numbers are in: Lana Del Rey debuted at No. 1 in 14 countries

Lana Del Rey's Born To Die has been likened to a fake orgasm and a Talking Malibu Stacy doll by the music press, but who listens to critics these days anyway? Apparently not iTunes shoppers, who made Born To Die the No. 1 album yesterday in 14 countries, including the U.S., U.K., Italy, France, Germany, Finland, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, Greece, Belgium, Portugal, Mexico, and Luxemburg. We're still a long way from declaring the album a commercial success, but for now LDR can enjoy a temporary upper-hand on her tormenters/lovers in the media. [via The Hollywood Reporter]
