The first real Scream Queens teaser isn’t very inventive
The first real teaser for Ryan Murphy’s new Fox show Scream Queens has arrived, and this one actually has more than just Keke Palmer blowing a bubble with a demon on it. But, despite Murphy’s puzzling claim that he was going to invent a whole new genre by combining comedy and horror—something no one has ever thought to do before, except for all the other people who have done it before—on the show, the teaser incorporates several of Murphy’s now-familiar signature obsessions. Namely, we’ve got Emma Roberts playing a bitch, like she does on American Horror Story, in a house that looks an awful lot like Miss Robichaux’s Academy For Exceptional Young Ladies, surrounded by a mismatched group of pledges that could have recently graduated from Glee’s McKinley High. (That’s Glee’s Lea Michele in the neck brace, in fact.) At least Jamie Lee Curtis is there. She’s cool.
Scream Queens will air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET this fall on Fox. Further teasers featuring killer clowns and evil nuns are expected shortly.
