The first trailer for Disney’s live-action Jungle Book looks gorgeous and intense
The first full-length trailer for Disney’s new live-action version of The Jungle Book is here, and to be honest, it looks pretty great. We’ve had a lot of good times making fun of this project, but watching this trailer, it looks like nothing so much as the similarly impressive nature-aping CGI of Ang Lee’s Life of Pi. Newcomer Neel Sethi runs through computer-generated landscapes, facing a whole host of dangers in the wild while being cooed at by Scarlett Johansson, who eventually reveals herself to be a giant snake. The film also features the voices of Bill Murray, Idris Elba, Giancarlo Esposito, Lupita Nyong’o, and Christopher Walken, all of whom presumably get animal avatars of their own. (The whistling you hear at the end is probably that of Murray’s Baloo the bear.) The film comes out April 15, and after watching this, The A.V. Club will be buying a ticket.
