The first trailer for Gone Girl looks appropriately eerie

It’s been a busy couple of days for David Fincher. First came news that he won’t, in fact, be directing the much-ballyhooed, Aaron Sorkin-penned Steve Jobs biopic. Now comes the debut of the trailer for the equally ballyhooed Gone Girl, which Fincher directed from the lauded Gillian Flynn novel of the same name. Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike star in the Oct. 3 film, which—based on the trailer—looks appropriately Fincher-esque, complete with an eerie version of Charles Aznavour’s “She” recorded by The Psychedelic Furs’ Richard Butler. It’s worth noting that even those who have read the book won’t necessarily know how the movie ends, as Fincher and Flynn worked together to craft a new finale to her story; so, like the book, probably best not to take things as they appear here.
