The first trailer for horror anthology XX showcases St. Vincent’s directorial debut

All kinds of skin-crawlingly creepy stuff is afoot in the first trailer for XX, a horror anthology entirely written and directed by women. The film, which is premiering at Sundance this month, features work from four filmmakers. The Invitation’s Karyn Kusama is the veteran of the group, while Annie Clark is the newcomer among them, at least in this field. Clark, mind you, is better known as rock star St. Vincent, but she makes her directorial debut here with The Birthday Party, starring Melanie Lynskey. The other two entries are by Roxanne Benjamin and Jovanka Vuckovic. This first look at the film previews a boy who won’t eat, a kid who rips off other people’s nails, and a spooky trip to a deserted locale. XX is due out February 17.
