The first trailer for Joe Swanberg’s Easy looks at modern love in Chicago
Netflix has released a full trailer for Easy, Joe Swanberg’s sex anthology series set in Chicago. Easy tells eight stories in eight episodes, bouncing around between a diverse crew of Chicagoans as they “fumble through the modern maze of love, sex, technology, and culture.” The trailer shows the characters grappling with dating apps, texting politics, pregnancy, and the difference between coffee dates and bar dates. The series explores fiery new relationships, relationships that have lost their flame, and everything in between as these characters try to conquer the wicked world of dating.
And those characters are played by a whole lot of familiar faces. The trailer shows off the series’ star-studded cast, which includes Jake Johnson (who also starred in Swanberg’s Drinking Buddies), You’re The Worst’s Aya Cash, Broad City’s Hannibal Buress, Beyond The Lights’ Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Maron’s Marc Maron, Orange Is The New Black’s Michael Chernus, and Transparent’s Kiersey Clemons. But wait, there’s more! Dave Franco (Nerve), Emily Ratajkowski (We Are Your Friends), Jane Adams (Hung), Elizabeth Reaser (Mad Men), Jacqueline Toboni (Grimm), Kate Micucci (Another Period), and Mexican telenovela star Mauricio Ochmann also star. Orlando Bloom is also there?! Basically, Swanberg has assembled quite the expansive team for his exploration of modern love in Chicago, where the series was also filmed (the Davis Theater also shows up in the trailer).
Easy is Swanberg’s first television show, although he made his initial foray into television earlier this year directing an episode of Judd Apatow, Paul Rust, and Lesley Arfin’s Love. All eight episodes of Easy will be available on Netflix on September 22.
