The first trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has arrived
Aside from Tuesday’s release of The Force Awakens on home video, Star Wars news has been slim lately. A few set pics have leaked from Episode VIII, but aside from some concept art and a few spy pics on fan sites featuring what looks like a Normandy-style beach invasion, all has been quiet on the Rogue One front. Today on Good Morning America, though, Disney and Lucasfilm treated early risers to a teaser of the first of what the studio hopes to be many Star Wars spinoff films.
Rogue One follows a group of Rebel spies as they attempt to steal the plans for the Death Star, setting in motion the events of the original 1977 film. That kind of makes it a—actually, maybe we shouldn’t use the “p” word around here. The down-and-dirty initial trailer focuses on Felicity Jones as our heroine, headstrong Rebel Jyn Erso, although Forest Whitaker, Donnie Yen, Mon Mothma (!), AT-ATs, X-Wing fighters, classic Stormtroopers, and a mysterious Imperial villain in a very cool cape also get some screen time.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on December 16.
