The first trailer for the film adaptation of Lois Lowry’s The Giver has hit the net. Though the book was written over 20 years ago, the trailer seems to be reminding potential viewers that, yes, like all other hot YA movies right now, this film will be set in a dystopian future—only this one has Katie Holmes. The 90-second clip features glamour shots of both Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges, longtime Giver champion, it also features all sorts of implied struggle for new Receiver Jonas, played in this movie by Brenton Thwaites.
The Giver hits theaters August 15.
