The Flash and Supergirl will sing in March

Last August, The CW’s Flash and Supergirl announced that they’d be joining the long-running tradition of the standalone musical episode, planning a crossover in which singing superheroes Barry Allen and Kara Danvers will belt out lyrics while beating bad guys’ butts. Now, Variety reports that the network has set an air date for the musical duo’s duel, with the crossover currently planned for March 20 (Supergirl) and 21 (The Flash).

Series stars Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist are no strangers to singing on TV; both came up in the Glee mines, dragging energetically choreographed pop covers out of the earth for Old Man Ryan Murphy. But the musical episodes will utilize the so-called Berlanti-verse’s surprisingly deep catalog of Broadway and musical theater stars, tapping Jesse L. Martin, Victor Garber, Carlos Valdes, Jeremy Jordan, and John Barrowman to sing as well.
