The Fosters returns to deal with a car crash

Here’s what’s up in the world of TV for Monday, June 8. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

The Fosters (ABC Family, 8 p.m.): In the summer premiere of The Fosters, the family has to deal with the aftermath of the Very Serious Car Accident that happened at the end of last season, which is pretty much a rite of passage for most TV dramas that have teens in them. Meanwhile, Callie’s still volunteering, and Brandon decides to enter a competitive music program. Connor wants to take his new relationship with Jude public, but Jude’s not so sure.

Also noted

Becoming Us (ABC Family, 9 p.m.): This unscripted docuseries follows Ben, a teenager whose father comes out as a trans woman. The first chapter also introduces Ben’s girlfriend.

Regular coverage

WWE Monday Night Raw (USA, 8 p.m.)

The Whispers (ABC, 10 p.m.)

Elsewhere in TV Club

It’s officially 1995 week, and this two-part Inventory, cleverly titled Windows ’95, takes a look at some pop culture windows into the year. Look out for part two tomorrow.

What else is on?

American Ninja Warrior (NBC, 8 p.m.): This week’s qualifying round goes down in Houston, with the Tilting Slider, Cargo Crossing, and Swinging Spikes all in full effect. Brave warrior-hopefuls Brent Steffensen, Sam Sann, and Kacy Catanzaro compete.

So You Think You Can Dance (Fox, 8 p.m.): The second round of auditions features dancers from Detroit who think they can dance.

The Island (NBC, 10 p.m.): The show inexplicably about men trying to live up to the myth of “real men” by surviving on a remote island are back at it! Only 12 remain, and things are getting a little heated as some of the men question their desire to continue to be on an island of men.

Odd Mom Out (Bravo, 10 p.m.): One of these moms is not like the other! Because she makes mistakes and is pretty much a normal human woman! Bravo’s latest scripted comedy looks at the lives of #moms in New York’s Upper East Side. Maybe the series will end up being as surprising and wonderful as Bravo’s Girlfriend’s Guide To Divorce. Only time will tell.

Pitch Perfect (ABC Family, 5:30 p.m.): Did you know that this movie is a love story between an edgy aspiring DJ and the bubbly redhead who recruits her to join an all-ladies a cappella team? No? Well, then it sounds like you’re due for a rewatch. Jesse who?

Miss Congeniality (CMT, 8 p.m.): We all pretend Sandra Bullock won her Oscar for this movie, retroactively, and not The Blind Side, right?

FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015: Sweden vs. Nigeria (Fox, 4 p.m.): This Group D matchup goes down in Winnipeg.
