Another year, another weird It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia trailer. In the past, FX and FXX have promoted new episodes of the now-technically venerable sitcom—which will be moving into its tenth season when it returns in January—with Bergman parodies, heartwarming dramas, and an entire new cast. This year, The Gang is going where very few degenerate Philadelphia slimeballs have gone before, as their loved and hated ones watch them get launched into space.
Why a space launch? It’s not really clear. Interstellar is coming out pretty soon, we guess. Also, it’s funny to see the cast in goofy bright yellow jumpsuits, as Rickety Cricket, The Lawyer, The Waitress, and other members of the show’s eclectic and sometimes nameless supporting cast look on. And in the end, all the loud noises and pomp are just set-ups for a dumb, mean-spirited joke, a perfect encapsulation of the deeply unsentimental nastiness that keeps the show worth watching a decade in. It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia returns January 2015 on FXX.
