The gang's all here for an Avengers-style twist on "We Didn't Start The Fire"
It’s only Tuesday, but this blessed content will make you feel much closer to Friday already. Using his powers for good, Jimmy Fallon assembled the cast of Avengers: Endgame (or a lot of them, anyway) for a cute Marvel-themed satire of Billy Joel’s classic “We Didn’t Start The Fire” on The Tonight Show. Let’s get this out of the way up front: There is no mention of Thanos’ butt or the mechanics therein. However, pretty much everything (and everyone) else gets a fun shout-out, including lesser villains like, uh, Laufey. Think of a Marvel fave, and it’s name-dropped in this catchy music video: Goose the cat? Check. Groot? Of course. Hydra? HAIL!
Of course, not everyone could put in an appearance. Notably absent are Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Chadwick Boseman, to name a few—presumably all preoccupied with something that doesn’t require bending to the maniacal whims of a late night TV show host. Still, given that this video was likely put together in a very short amount of time, it’s impressively edited. The various MCU stars appear in little boxes among the pages of Marvel comics intercut with actual film footage. It should go without saying, but Paul Rudd emerges as the clear MVP. Oh, and if you’re the emotional type of Marvel fan, the final shot of the video might make you a teensy bit misty-eyed. You’ve been warned.
