The Gilmore Girls revival will take place over one year
Because it wouldn’t be a Netflix revival of a beloved TV show if it didn’t involve a gimmick based on when the episodes take place, TV Line is reporting that the new Gilmore Girls mini-movies will tell stories set over the course of a whole year. As we reported when the news initially broke, the new Gilmore Girls will consist of four 90-minute episodes, and TV Line is now saying that each of those four episodes will cover a different season—as in winter, spring, summer, and fall—in this year in the life of the Gilmores. The year in question will be about eight years after the series originally ended, meaning it will be set in whatever year it is when the revival premieres. None of the cast has signed on yet, but negotiations with Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop, and Scott Patterson are “said to be underway.”
Finally, it’s worth mentioning that Netflix has yet to officially comment on any of this, so there’s still a chance it’s all just a wonderful dream.
