The Girls girls made an anti-rape PSA
The cast of the HBO television series Girls appear together in a video released yesterday in support of the Stanford rape survivor whose letter to her attacker inspired a turn in the cultural conversation about sexual assault.
The bare-bones video features the four actresses in solidarity, noting that just because they “star on Girls together, that doesn’t mean we always agree.” These differences vary from which presidential candidate each woman supports to how many times a week is appropriate to wash one’s hair.
Jokes aside—not that there are many to begin with—the women emphasize the stark facts and figures of sexual assault and to view female sexual assault survivors not through the lens of one possibly being a wife, a mother, a sister, or a daughter, but as a whole someone. The video comes in a long line of celebrity activism, but it’s certainly one that stands out.
